James DeGale is desperate to get back into the ring and claim the European Super-Middleweight title in his comeback fight in September.

Poland’s Piotr Wilczewski has confirmed that he will defend his EBU super-middleweight belt against London’s James DeGale on September 17th. ‘Wilk’ won the vacant strap courtesy of an eleventh round TKO over Amin Asikainen in March and will be making his maiden defence.

According to sources in Poland, the super middleweight bout between Piotr ''The Wolf'' Wilczewski (29-1, 10 KO) and James DeGale (10-1, 8 KO) has not been finalized by the Polish fighter's team. DeGale's promoter, Frank Warren, announced the deal was done, but the European champion's team is still waiting for the contract. And, they want an agreement where Warren would reimburse their expenses in the event of DeGale's withdrawal. There is also talk that George Groves (13-0, 10 KO) is also trying to get the fight with Wilczewski.

Poland’s EBU super middleweight champion Piotr ‘Wilk’ Wilczewski’s voluntary defence against James ‘Chunky’ DeGale, 10-1 (8), took an interesting turn on Friday when reports from Poland indicated that the 32-year-old has yet to finalize the September 17th meeting. The EBU, however, had issued an email confirming that the contest has been lodged with them as well as placing the bout, including the date, on their list of forthcoming contests.

WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan took notice of a recent statement that was made by once-beaten super middleweight, James DeGale. The Olympic gold medal winner made a comment regarding the job that his promoter, Frank Warren, was able to do by resurrecting Khan's career after his 2008 knockout loss to Breidis Prescott. DeGale, who recently lost the first fight of his career against George Groves, will face Poland’s Piotr Wilczewski for the European title in September.
