Nicaraguan René "Twin" Alvarado, the featherweight silver champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC), and veteran Rocky Juarez, stepped on the scale on Sunday for their showdown tomorrow night at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. The card, promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, will be broadcast by FOX Sports 1. The weigh-in was held at the Wyndham Hotel in El Paso. Juarez was the first to climb the scale, scoring 125.2 pounds, while Alvarado was 125.6 - both below the limit of the featherweight division, 126 pounds.
Alvarado makes the first defense of the title he won on February 15th when he knocked out Mexico's Robinson Castellanos. He has a 20-2 record with 14 knockouts, while Juarez is 29-10-1, 21 KOs and a vast experience in world title bouts.
