Photos/Weights: Kell Brook, Carson Jones Get Heated

Kell Brook and Carson Jones both made weight for Saturday’s welterweight grudge match at Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, England

Jones (34-8-2, 24KO) came in at 146.6 lb, while Brook (27-0, 18KO) was slightly lighter at 146.1 lb.

The welterweights have spent virtually the entire pre-fight buildup jawing at one another. Brook has made it clear that he flat out does not care for his opponent, while Jones steadily insists that it’s just business and that he is inside his opponent’s head.     

More taunts were exchanged during Friday’s outdoor weigh-in. From the moment both fighters were asked to pose for the cameras, Jones jumped in Brook’s face and vowed to “f***in’ knock your ass out.” Brook smiled and lunged his head forward in return, before the two were immediately separated.


While the bout – which airs live on Sky Sports – is not an official title eliminator, the intention is for the winner to go after one of the welterweight beltholders. Given their respective lofty rankings within the IBF, the belief is that a title shot will be sought against the winner of the September 8 showdown between recently crowned Randall Bailey and former 140 lb. champ Devon Alexander.

Brook fights in his second straight homecoming, giving his Sheffield friends and fans a thrill with a dominant showing against Matthew Hatton this past March.

Jones is riding a seven- fight win streak, all of which have ended inside the distance.
