Adrian Hernandez and Atsushi Kakutani both made weight for their 108 lb. title fight Saturday evening in Mexico City.
Hernandez came in right at the divisional limit of 108 lb., while Kakutani came in closer to the strawweight limit as he tipped the scales at 105.8 lb.
The bout will air live on Mexico Televisa.
Hernandez (27-2-1, 16KO) makes the third defense of the title he regained in a knockout win over Kompayak Porpramook last October. The victory, which took place in Mexico, avenged a title losing effort in his opponent’s Thailand backyard in their Dec. ’11 thriller.
Kakutani fights outside of his native Japan for the first time in his career, and also in his first major title fight.
Also on the card, Irma Garcia defends her bantamweight belt against Jessica Gonzalez in a bout scheduled for 10 two-minute rounds. Both fighters came in at the divisional limit of 118 lb.
