Photos: Velez vs Valcarcel Announced, 30-day Weigh-In

World Champion and boxing promoter Miguel Cotto, together with Héctor Soto from H2 Entertainment, announced their upcoming event - "Electrifying" Vélez vs. Valcárcel - on Friday July 15 at the Cosme Beitía Coliseum in Cataño, Puerto Rico.

Top Super Bantamweight prospect and WBO World Ranked #10 Jayson "La Maravilla" Vélez (15-0, 12 KO's) is ready to take the biggest challenge of his career when he steps into the ring with former top veteran contender Carlos Valcárcel (12-2-4, 5 KO's) for the Super Bantamweight WBO Latino Title and the WBC's FECARBOX title.

This exciting fight will be televised on the popular latino series "Solo Boxeo: Tecate" on Telefutura.

"I'm ready for this challenge, I know Valcárcel very well.  When he made his pro-debut I was 16 years old with 80 amateurs fights. I have been training really hard for this and will not waste my time. After I beat Valcárcel I will be ready for Jorge "Travieso" Arce", Jayson said.

Meanwhile his experienced opponent Carlos Valcárcel said "I am really focused for this fight. I really am!  The 2 defeats that I have as a pro were because of my bad discipline.  Other than those 2 mistakes, I am still undefeated. Jayson, you don't really know what I will be capable to do.  I will beat you and get those crowns.  I am the one who will fight Travieso Arce.  It will be Carlos Valcarcel".

Also as part of the "Electrifying" card, Top lightweight and undefeated prospect Abner "Pin" Cotto (10-0, 5Ko's) will fight dangerous Carlos Claudio (10-6-3, 3Ko's) for the WBC Lightweight Fecarbox Title.  Also, super flyweight sensation Miguel "Loco" Robles (8-1-2,4Ko's) will face undefeated Isander Beauchamp (6-0-1,2Ko's) for the WBC super flyweight Fecarbox title.

The Puerto Rico Boxing Commission and its President, Dommys Delgado, celebrated the 30 day safety weigh-in to all of the boxers fighting for a title.  Numbers were Jayson Velez 133lbs , Carlos Valcarcel 128lbs, Abner Cotto 144lbs, Carlos Claudio 144.7lbs, Miguel Robles 125.2lbs and Isander Beauchamp 124lbs.  All fighters were in target to make weight at the official weigh-in.
