24-year old Tyron Zeuge, the only German world champion at the time, successfully retained his WBA "regular" super middleweight title with a slightly controversial win over Nigerian Isaac Ekpo in five rounds.

Zeuge (20-0-1, 11 KOs) acquired his belt in two fights versus Giovanni De Carolis of Italy, the last one being the twelfth-round TKO.

WBA #3 Ekpo, 34, got his second world title shot after being outpointed wildly by then-WBO 168lb titlist Robert Stieglitz in October 2013. Ekpo was 9-0, 8 KOs, after that, fighting exclusively in Africa.

Against Zeuge, Ekpo did well after a dreadful start. He was taking some fight to Zeuge, dealing him well-felt damage. Zeuge countered well but the fight was truly even. In the fifth round a huge, bleeding cut was opened over Zeuge's right eye.

The fight couldn't been continued thus ending on the judges' scorecards who preferred Zeuge over Ekpo with scores: 49-46, 49-47, and 48-47.

The Nigerian gets back with a record of 31-3, 24 KOs.
