Photos: Selcuk Aydin, Jo Jo Dan Face To Face at Presser

About fifty local and international journalists were listening to Selcuk Aydin and Jo Jo Dan expressing mutual respect for each other at their final press conference for Saturday’s WBC Silver world welterweight championship.

Both fighters seem to be in great shape and very well prepared for their re-match of Aydin’s controversial split decision win over the Canada based Romanian in June 2010 in Istanbul.

"We thank the people in Trabzon for the warm welcome", said Jo Jo Dan. "I have trained very hard for this fight and I am sure that the people will see a great championship bout this Saturday."

"Being here in Trabzon feels like fighting at home", added Dan’s promoter Chris Ganescu (GANKOR promotions). "We are Black Sea people just like our friends here in Trabzon."

Dan refused to talk about the first fight and the controversial result but his trainer Pierre Bouchard said how the team feels about the loss. "We know Jo Jo won that fight and Selcuk knows it as well", stated Bouchard. "But we also know that Selcuk wasn’t well prepared for the first fight. We expect a better and stronger Selcuk Aydin this time. But Jo Jo will be stronger as well."

Aydin answered: "I won the first fight and I will win this one even clearer and more decisive. I will leave no room for any discussions. We labeled the fight as "Unfinished Business". I want to prove that I can stop Jo Jo."

Promoter Ahmet Oner had announced last week that 25 percent of the ticketing income will be donated for the earthquake victims in Van. Therefore all parties said that they hope on a sold out crowd at Hayri Gür Spor Salonu on Saturday. "I don’t want to see any open seats", said Aydin. "But I’m sure my fans will support me. It is a very spezial thing for me to fight in front of my home crowd. And it is very important for me, too, that we can send a signal to the people in Van and donate as much money as possible."
