Photos: Rojas vs Montes Presser To Announce WBC Clash

By Rafael Soto

Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas - A press conference was held to officially announce the May 21 showdown between WBC super flyweight champion Tomás “Gusano” Rojas and mandatory challenger Juan José “Goofy” Montes. The event is called “Vive Chiapas”, and it will be promoted by HG Boxing and Zanfer Promotions.

"I respect my opponent but I'll be the winner by any means. It took a lot of hard work and a lot of sacrifice to win the world championship so I have a long reign. Montes will not beat me. I have a lot of plans as world champion," Rojas said.

"Rojas is a great champion. He took his chance when it was presented and won the crown, but now it's my turn. I have a good shot to knock him out and become world champion," said Montes.

Rojas (35-12-1, 23 KO’s) vs. Montes (19-1-0, 12 KO’s) will be the first boxing event at Arena Metropolitana, a new venue built by the State of Chiapas. Azteca 7 will televise the fight.
