By Reynaldo Sanchez

Hialeah, Florida - Cuban star Guillermo "The Jackal" Rigondeaux is already back in the gym and working hard for his next defense. The WBA super bantamweight world champion is training at The Xtreme Boxing Gym, owned by the trainer Jorge Rubio in Hialeah, Miami. Florida. The Cuban fighter began this training camp along with his physical conditioner DJ Montanocordoba and the help of Jorge Rubio and Ramón Garbey for his next fight in June against Teon Kennedy in Las Vegas.

Rigondeaux began his work of strength conditioning and every morning, along with others fighters from the gym, run in the Tropical Park of Miami.

"We began this trainings camp gradually. We are going by stages and we even have a lot of time. But, from this moment on we are focused to acquire the best physical condition possible," Rigondeaux said.

"We are building up the work and following a plan. While we advance in the trainings, we will be looking not only at the weight but also for resistance and stámina, as we prepare for the first defense of the title," Montanocordoba assured. "In every session we see that the team work stimulates Rigondeaux and this is reflected in the fortitude that he shows us in these training camps."

The Rigondeaux-Kennedy fight is scheduled for June 9 at the MGM Grand, as part of the undercard to the welterweight fight between Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley.
rigondeaux is the best 122 lb in the world
Rigondeaux is arguably the most skilled and maybe even the best but Nishioka is still ranked #1 due to longevity and accomplishments
