Photos: Perez Shocks Magomed, Afolabi Grabs IBO Belt

Theater, Madison Square Garden, New York City - In a heavyweight war for ten rounds between two undefeated contenders, Cuba's Mike Perez (20-0, 12Kos) won a unanimous decision over Russian puncher Magomed Abdusalamov (18-1, 18KOs). The scores were 97-92, 95-94 and 97-92. Perez captures the WBC United States (USNBC) heavyweight title with the victory.

Ola Afolabi (20-3-4, 9Kos) captured the vacant IBO cruiserweight title over Polish contender Likasz Janik (26-2) with a twelve round majority decision. Afolabi bounces back after suffering a majority decision loss to Marco Huck in their June trilogy bout. The fight marks the third consecutive majority decision Afolabi has been involved in.

Not really a shocker, more of a shocker Magomed went 10 and hurt him too

Comment by black.ink on 11-03-2013

Tony Bellew tweeted there's a rumour Magomed is in a coma. Hope it's not true.

I agree with the fellow posters, Perez was a minute underdog and was even money to win at some bookmakers. No one was really shocked.

I don't get the headline of a shock if the guy schools him...a shock is a big underdog or a lucky punch

Comment by knockoutkid on 11-03-2013

its hardly a 'shock' if its relatively even odds wise going into the fight, a shock would be thwompson price first fight.
