Photos: Patrick Nielsen, Tony Jeter Go Face To Face

Patrick Nielsen (21-0, 10 KOs) and Tony Jeter (16-3-1, 11 KOs) came face-to-face for the first time at today’s final press conference at the Hard Rock Café in Copenhagen ahead of their clash for the WBC Silver Middleweight World Championship on Saturday night at the Albertslund MusikTeatret.

‘’This is a massive opportunity for me,’’ said Nielsen. ‘’I have had my toughest sparring partners to prepare for this fight and I honestly feel that I am in the shape of my life. Everything in training has gone perfectly and on Saturday night I will be ready to win the WBC Silver title in front of my home fans.’’

Said Tony Jeter: "The Danes will have a determined and charismatic fighter to watch. I’m in phenomenal shape and I didn’t come here to lie down. I am going to put all my hard work into this fight. I came here to win.”

‘’The WBC Silver Championship is a prestigious title,’’ said Nielsen’s coach Joey Gamache. ‘’This is the chance of a lifetime for both fighters. We are looking forward to the fight and showing how hard we’ve worked for this.”

Jeter must travel to Albertslund, Nielsen’s hometown, on Saturday night. Jeter's coach Charles Dent does not believe home advantage will play a part in the outcome of the fight. ”I’m a former boxer so I know a thing or two,’’ said Dent. ‘’The crowd doesn’t win the fight and the judges don’t win the fight. It’s all about the two guys in the ring. We will not be intimidated.’’

Patrick is not the only Nielsen challenging for a title in Albertslund, younger brother Micki Nielsen (10-0, 8 KOs) will face Gogita Gorgiladze (17-3, 13 KOs) for the WBC Youth Cruiserweight crown.

”It would be fantastic to win my first belt,’’ said Micki. ‘’It’s a big step towards my dream of becoming a world champion. I’m in great shape and can’t wait to fight in Albertslund. I love to fight in front of my home crowd."

Said promoter Kalle Sauerland: ”The Nielsen brothers have started on a journey to become the next Danish world champions. They are still a work in progress, they are still improving but under the tutelage of coach Joey Gamache the curve is certainly going the right way. On Saturday night I fully expect both brothers to show us how far they have come.’’

Alongside the Nielsen brother’s title fights, the Nordic Fight in Albertslund will feature a full undercard showcasing the very best in Scandinavian boxing. Tickets are available at billetnet.dk.

I'm looking forward to see Patrick continue the progress he has shown under Joey Gamache. Younger brother Micki is a crowdpleasing knockout machine. Nicknamed 'one punch' because of it. Personally I'd preferred 'Battling' (obviously) or maybe 'undertaker' because of his…
