Photos: Omar Chavez, Jorge Paez Jr. Double Announced

By Rafael Soto

On the 3rd of September at the Forum PromoCasa in Mexicali, welterweights Omar "Businessman" Chavez and Jorge "Maromerito" Paez Jr. will see action with different opponents, and if both of them win it could set up a showdown for November. The event is called "Legends Legacy" and it will be broadcast by TV Azteca in a promotion by Zanfer.

"Businessman" Chavez (26-0-1, 19 KOs) will face the Alberto "La Mosca" Martinez (15-1, 10 KOs) in a ten round welterweight bout, while "Maromerito" Paez (28-4-1, 17 KOs) will clash with the experienced Rodrigo Juarez (18-13-1, 11 KOs).

"It would be good for our careers [for me and Chavez to fight], but right now I am focused on defeating Rodrigo Juarez and then we will start negotiating for a fight with Omar," Paez said.

Back in July of 1999, Paez Jr. and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., the older brother of Omar, sparred for three rounds in an amateur bout in Mexicali.
