Mike Alvarado beat Brandon Rios on points in another excellent fight in Las Vegas on Saturday night. The scores at the end of a highly entertaining bout were 115-113 on two cards and 114-113 on the third. The two, who had provided a classic last October, were at it again from the start of the bout at the Mandalay Bay Events Centre, trading punches and showing the spectators what professional boxing could be all about. Alvarado won the vacant WBO interim junior welterweight title and improved his record to 34-1, including 23 knockouts. Rios, who had won their first meeting in the seventh round, was once again in full flight during the middle rounds, dropped to 31-1-1, with 22 knockouts.

Great win, im happy for ALverado, and Rios put on a great fight. Rios was doing well with the jab, should've kept firing it. Alverado has a killer right hand. Rios will bounce back, and ALverado should enjoy his win and stay out of trouble.
Great fight! They both displayed a lot of heart, great conditioning & strength but the reason Alvarado won was cause he was a little bit smarter than Rios & didn't stay in the pocket as much..
This time he didn't fight rios's fight.
Rio is too brave for his own good. Can't stand his personality, but love his fighting style. Unfortunately, it's a style that doesn't lend itself to longevity. Props to Alvarado for sticking to the game plan, despite Rios' ability to cut off the ring and force the fight.[/QUOTE...

Props to Alvarado this time around he used his head and fought with his boxing skills to keep his opponent off instead of trying to slug with a slugger maybe Amir khan watched this fight and learned something.
