Photos: Mathews Drills Woodhouse, Smith Makes History

Olympia, Liverpool, Merseyside - For the Commonwealth lightweight title, Derry Mathews (34-8-2, 19KOs) drilled Curtis Woodhouse (19-6, 13KOs) in the fourth round with a massive shot. The two fighters went to war in every round, trading punches and looking to land something big. During the fourth, as they were trading, Mathews landing a shot that dropped Woodhouse on his back. Woodhouse made it to his feet but he was wobbling all over the place and the referee waved things off.

For the vacant British junior middleweight title, Liam Smith (15-0-1, 5KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Erick Ochieng (14-2, 4KOs). The scores were 117-112, 117-112, 116-113. Smith makes British boxing history. He joins elder brothers Paul and Stephen as British champions. It is the first time in British boxing where three brothers have held the Lonsdale belt simultaneously. The fourth brother, Callum Smith, also fought and won on the show.
