Photos: Malignaggi Gut Check, Quillin Grabs WBO Gold

Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York - WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KOs) had to get off the floor to win a twelve round split decision over Pablo Cesar Cano (25-2-1, 19 KOs) in a non-title fight. The scores were 114-113, 114-113 Malignaggi and 118-109 Cano. The Mexican fighter suffered a bad cut above his left eye in the second round, but he continued to come forward, with hard punches, and eventually dropped Malignaggi in the eleventh.

Peter Quillin (28-0, 20 KOs) dropped Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam (27-1, 17 KOs) six times toi capture the WBO middleweight championship with a twelve round unanimous decision. N’Jikam went down twice in the fourth, twice in the sixth and twice in the twelfth. All three of the official judges saw it 115-107.
