Photos: Kalenga Breaks Out With Masternak Victory

Casino de Monte Carlo Salle Medecin, Monte Carlo, Monaco - Youri Kayembre Kalenga (20-1, 13KOs) had a break out victory when he scored an upset twelve round split decision over the heavily favored Mateusz Masternak (32-2, 23KOs) to capture the vacant interim-vacant WBA cruiserweight title. The scores were 115-113 for Masternak, and scores of 116-112, 115-113 for Kalenga, who now moves a step close to getting a crack at Denis Lebedev.

These African fighters are running riot in the cruiserweight division. Good win for Kalenga and another set back for Masternak.
