A night of opportunities on Saturday night, in the ring of the Gymnasium of the University of Tampico (UAS) where Jorge ¨Maromero¨ Paez will look to take a step further in his quest for a world title by facing José Carlos ¨Puro¨ Peace over ten rounds in a fight being broadcast throughout Mexico by TV Azteca.
Also looking to take advantage will be former world champions Tomas "Gusano" Rojas and Irma "Torbellino" García - who are looking for victories and opportunities, but in the opposite corner they will have to contend with younger opponents who have the hunger to achieve their dreams as Edivaldo "Indio" Ortega and Kandy Sandoval respectively, have promised to spoil the party.
All of the boxers involved in the event were able to make the contracted weights and they are now ready to offer their talents to the fans.
Jorge Páez: 155 lbs, José Paz 153 lbs.
Tomás Rojas 126 lbs, Edivaldo Ortega 126 lbs.
Irma García 118 lbs, Kandy Sandoval 118 lbs.
Ramón Hidalgo Weight: 159.8 lbs, Francisco Javier Juárez Weight: 160 lbs.
Sergio Torres 133 lbs, Adan Morales 134 lbs
Mario Cazares 168 lbs, Erick Mireles 167.5 lbs
Paez (40-9-2, 24 KO's) looks for another starting shot in a long quest to secure a world title shot, but with Argentine slugger Paz (20-6-1, 12 KO's) there is a lot at stake with getting a world ranking
The Mexicalian will seek his second consecutive win this year, after having spectacularly knocked out the Daniel "Galeno" Sandoval in March.
"I have taken a second breath of motivation in this stage of my life with greater maturity, I am young and I aspire to fight for a world title. The Argentine is a good opponent, the goal is to win and give a spectacle to the people," said Paez.
Former world champion Tomás "Gusano" Rojas (49-15-1, 33 KO's), will look to fend off a young prospect who is eager to take advantage of this opportunity - Edivaldo "Indio" Ortega (24-1-1, 11 KO's) - as they will collide over ten rounds.
