Mexico City, Mexico - There was great excitement in Mexico City, for the announcement of the fight between "La Princesa Azteca", Jackie Nava (24-3-2, 11KOs), and "The Aztec Warrior", Ana María Torres (24-3-2, 14KOs), which takes place on April 16 at the World Trade Center of Boca del Rio in Veracruz. The winner will be crowned as the best female Mexican fighter of all time.
Nave and Torres augured a historic match, being staged more than 10 years after the legendary bout between Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera. The two champions of the World Boxing Council, consider their fight a great victory for women's boxing in Mexico. 'Queens at War" will be promoted by Zanfer Promotions in association with HG Boxing and supported by the government of the beautiful state of Veracruz.
"From the first round I'm going out to press the fight and if the knockout comes, it would be better, but it's going to be a very tough fight for both. It's time to prove that Mexican women's boxing has grown and is undergoing a great moment," said Nava, the first female champion in the history of World Boxing Council and the current Queen of the WBC super flyweight title.
"It's a great fight. I'm going to prepare very well and frankly I'm not the favorite. We are planning a strategy to give a great fight," said Torres, the present super bantamweight champion of the WBC. "It's nice to face the best and Jackie is a great boxer. The public deserves the best fights like Barrera and Morales."
