Photos: Hugo Ruiz, Panchito Arce Wage War in Los Mochis

By Rafael Soto

Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico - In a thrilling fight, Hugo "Cuatito" Ruiz (28-1, 25 KOs) retained his interim-WBA bantamweight with a twelve round unanimous decision over Francisco "Panchito" Arce (31-7-3, 22 KOs). A packed house of four thousand fans were screaming for twelve rounds at the Polideportivo Centenario.

Both Ruiz and Arce visited the canvas a couple of times in a fight that was intense and thunderous for the entire twelve rounds.

It appeared that the "Panchito" Arce was on the verge of accomplishing his dream of winning the title, but Ruiz closed the fight very strong by landing hard shots with both hands.

The judges gave the following scores: 114-109, 114-109 and 112-111 all for the Ruiz.

Daniel Rosas scored a stunning eighth-round technical knockout over David Gaspar.

Montes Mahonry knocked out Rafael Urias in two.

Marisela Quintero won by unanimous decision over Sonia Soto Mayor.
