Photos: Hugo Ruiz, Ana Maria Torres Win Big in Los Cabos
Ana Maria Torres (28-3-1, 16KOs) stopped Colombian fighter Maria Andrea Miranda (14-8) in the fourth round to retain her super flyweight championship of the World Boxing Council at the Auditorium Gym in Los Cabos, Mexico. After taking punishment for three rounds, Miranda sat on her stool when the fourth round started and she was counted out.
Sinaloa's Hugo "Cuatito" Ruiz (30-1, 27KOs) successfully defended his belt for the third time, as he retained the interim-bantamweight title of the World Boxing Association (WBA) with an eight round stoppage of Venezuelan Yonfrez "Executioner" Parejo (11-1, 4KOs). Parejo went down the second round and took a beating, and went down again the seventh from a body shot. He took more punishment until the fight was stopped at 1:12 of the eight.
