Photos: Berto Defeats Zaveck, Biloxi Undercard Action

Biloxi, MS [Beau Rivage Resort & Casino] - Former champion Andre Berto (28-1, 21 KOs) flew out of the gate and overwhelmed IBF welterweight champion Jan Zaveck (31-2, 18 KOs), shutting his eye and forcing the ringside doctor to halt the bout in the fifth round. Berto returns for the first time since the loss to Victor Ortiz, and picks up the IBF title. Photos by Scott Foster.

Unbeaten featherweight Gary Russell Jr. (18-0, 10 KOs) scored a lop-sided eight round unanimous decision over Leonilo Miranda (32-4, 30 KOs). Scores were 80-72, 80-72, 79-72.

In a very entertaining fight, South Africa's Thomas Oosthuzien defended his IBO Super Middleweight Title with a twleve round unanimous decision victory over Aaron Pryor Jr.  Oosthuzien was the much busier of the two, winning by scores of 117-11 on all three judge's scorecards.


 
IBF #2 rated welterweight, Randall "The K.O. King" Bailey improved to 42-7, 36KO's with a dominate ten round unanimous decision over Yoryi Estrella.  Bailey, the manadatory challenger to tonight's main event winner, controlled the action throughout, dropping Estrella with an uppercut in the 5th round, before going on to win by scores of 100-89, 100-89, 98-91. 


 
Luis Del Valle knocked out Anthony Napunyi with a tremendous overhand right, improving to a perfect 14-0, 11KO's.  Official time of the stoppage was 1:21 of round three.

Zaveck was treated very poorly. Just to re-cap: - Zaveck was the champion who travelled 4,000 miles with all his fans to fight challenger Berto in his back yard - they fought with a US referee and three US judges…

Not the most professionall looking ref you will see...looks like he got that polo shirt @ goodwill....refs and judges should @least look professional...
