Tyson Fury (25-0, 18KOs) is the latest to confirm that his rematch with Wladimir Klitschko is set to be rescheduled for October 29. Last week Klitschko's manager, Bernd Boente, was the first to drop the October date and then a few days ago uncle/trainer Peter Fury confirmed the same.
The WBO, IBO and WBA heavyweight champion was previously in line to make the first defence of his titles on Saturday at the Manchester Arena, until an ankle injury forced the fight's postponement. It was the second time the fight had to be pushed back. The first time was earlier this year when Klitschko suffered an injury and needed more time to set a date.
Shortly after that development, the Sunday Mirror reported he was the subject of a doping investigation - an allegation Fury denied in a statement.
October had long been discussed as a potential new date, and posting a picture in which the 27-year-old looked - by his standards - to be in impressive condition, he wrote on Twitter: "Sixteen weeks Saturday 'till I blast Klitschko spark out.
"#Andstill! Can't wait #manchesteroctober29 #letshaveit."
Fury captured the titles last November in Germany with a shocking upset of Klitschko. He defied the odds and boxed his way to a twelve round unanimous decision.
