Floyd Mayweather Jr. is going full promoter. He flew in to Cincinnati to sit down with newly crowned WBA junior welterweight champion Adrien Broner to finalize a deal for a title defense against British contender Ashley Theophane, who is promoted by Mayweather.
Last Saturday night, Broner captured the WBA title with a stoppage win over Khabib Allakhverdiev at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati. Broner (30-2, 22 KOs) dominated the contest and stopped Allakhverdiev (19-2, 9 KOs) in the twelfth. The victory earned Broner his fourth divisional title.
During his live post-fight interview on Showtime, Broner called out Theophane (39-6-1, 11KOs).
"Put Ashley on one of your private jets, bring him to come see me - and I bet I bring the girl out of that boy like Bruce Jenner," Broner said after the fight.
Mayweather flew on jet and came to see Broner. The five division champion, who retired last month, posted a message on his Shots page, that he intends to finalize the title shot for Theophane.
