Photo: Mayorga, Ortiz Go Face To Face at Final Presser

By Armando Mendoza, NotiFight.com

Former world champion Ricardo "El Matador" Mayorga (0-1-1) and Sergio "Checo" Ortiz (1-1) went face to face to promote their upcoming fight on October 12 in San Jose, Costa Rica. It will be Mayorga's third Mixed Martial Arts battle. Mayorga's first MMA clash was eventually ruled a no-contest after the Nicaraguan boxer landed an illegal blow on the opponent. On July 28th, Mayorga only lasted a 1:40 of the first round when he was choked out by Rene "Level" Martinez (5-0-1) in Managua, Nicaragua.
Jesus I thought I'd missed a step and Mayorga was fighting Victor Ortiz....
Same, I was wondering how the fight slipped my awareness, then I realised it was MMA related and had a chuckle.

So Victor Ortiz is not fighting Mayorga?

This guy is irrelevant in both boxing and mma, he shouldn't even be brought up anymore.
