Photo: Marroquin Badly Injures Ankle During Diaz Loss

Featherweight contender Roberto Marroquin (23-3, 16KOs) tore ligaments around his right ankle in the first round of last Friday's shocking ten round split decision loss to Daniel Diaz (20-5) at the WinStar Casino in Oklahoma. Marroquin injured the ankle after suffering two knockdowns in the first. He also hurt his left hand along the way, but the ankle made him a stationary target for Diaz.

According to Marroquin's team, the boxer will likely be out for several months to fully recover from the ankle injury.

Respect to Marroquin for finishing the fight despite the injury. Hope he heals up and avenges the loss soon.
