The professional boxing commission in Puerto Rico will undergo changes in January 2013, and according to a credible source the frontrunner to lead the agency for the next four years is veteran José 'Toto' Peñagarícano, who headed the PR commission from 2000 to 2008.
Currently, the Commission is chaired by Dommys Delgado Berty, who made history in the sport when she became the first woman to lead a professional boxing commission.
"Peñagaricano is the leading candidate. He is a man of experience, with vast knowledge of the boxing world and more importantly he loves the sport and has enough time to run the commission without compensation," said the source.
Among those who chaired the commission in the past - Héctor ‘Totin‘ García, already deceased, Delgado Berty, Francisco ‘Paco‘ Valcárcel [current president of the WBO] and Peñagarícano, a veteran in boxing with more than 35 years tied to this sport.
