BoxingScene.com was informed that Allan Green is one of the fighters who is being considered as a possible opponent for WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik on October 3 - if Top Rank is unable to reach an agreement for a fight with Paul Williams. A fight between Pavlik and Green had been loosely discussed and shot down after Green, currently at super middleweight, refused to come down to 160 for the fight and asked for a catch-weight. Green has now changed his stance on the weight. Bob Arum likes the fight - but only if the bout takes place at 160.
There are serious concerns by Pavlik's team that Green can actually make the middleweight limit.
There is still an offer on the table for Green to meet Sakio Bika on the pay-per-view undercard to Floyd Mayweather Jr-Juan Manuel Marquez on September 19. Negotiations are still ongoing for Pavlik-Williams but there are still some issues to sort out on the money. Winky Wright and WBC 154-pound champ Sergio Martinez are two of the other names being mentioned in the Pavlik sweepstakes.
