By Chris LaBate

Staples Center, Los Angeles - Former junior welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (30-4, 6KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over Orlando Lora (28-2, 19KOs) in a welterweight clash. The scores were 100-90, 98-92 and 99-91.

In the first, Malignaggi was boxing well until Lora stunned him in the final minute with a big counter. Lora started pushing forward and walking through Malignaggi's punches, but Malignaggi was scoring a lot of points with numerous combinations.

Malignaggi was outworking and outlanding Lora in the second and third. A cut opened up above the right eye of Lora in the fourth. Lora was too slow, too inactive and his punches were too wide to change the pace. Malignaggi was easily outboxing him, round after round.

I really like malinaggi as a guy and he has a real warriors heart, I hope he gets Alexander and boxes his ears off. I just hope he doesn't get fed to Brook as that fight is off no benefit to either fighter. Brook vs Berto=FOTY!
