Paul Gallen: record, next fight and profile →
New Zealand Warriors second-rower Bodene Thompson jumped at the chance to fight Paul Gallen, despite seeing hardly any of the Australian league hardman's three professional wins. If he is not selected in the Kiwis squad for their upcoming tour of England, Thompson will take on Gallen at the Super 8 tournament in Auckland on November 3.
Paul Gallen has called out Sonny Bill Williams to get into the boxing ring with him next year. The Cronulla Sharks captain will fight Warriors back-rower Bodene Thompson in Auckland in November but, on Australian TV on Thursday, Gallen said he wanted to take on Williams in 2016. "Probably not the next six months," Gallen told Fox Sports.
Controversial New South Wales and Cronulla rugby league captain Paul Gallen is returning to New Zealand for his fourth professional boxing bout. The 33-year-old will feature on the Super 8 card in Auckland on November 3. Gallen's opponent is yet to be announced though he will be a sportsman, most likely with league connections. Gallen will be looking to make it 3-0 on Kiwi shores, having TKO'd All Black Hika Elliot and squeaked past Liam Messam in 2013.
Sonny Bill Williams says a fight with Cronulla Sharks and NSW hardman Paul Gallen is on the cards after the cross-code star beat American battler Chauncy Welliver in Sydney last week. Williams took his pro record to 7-0 after a comfortable victory over Welliver, in a fight that lacked fireworks but was at least without controversy after the Kiwi's last win against South Africa's Frans Botha was clouded in doubt.

Anthony Mundine has cast doubt on a fight between Sonny Bill Williams and Paul Gallen at the end of next season by suggesting the NSW Origin captain would not be ready for such a match-up for two years. After Williams and Gallen won their respective bouts at Saturday night's Footy Show Fight Night, all the talk at Allphones Arena was of the pair getting in the ring against each other to headline the event next year. Channel Nine boss David Gyngell has publicly backed the bout.
NSW rugby league captain Paul Gallen hopes to squeeze in one more boxing bout before the NRL season starts, but isn't sure he'll get the opportunity. NSW rugby league captain Paul Gallen says he'll be ready for Wednesday's boxing clash with Anthony Watts despite spending time in hospital with an infection last week. "I'm fine now. I trained yesterday and am building the energy levels up," said Gallen at Monday's pre-fight media conference.
NSW rugby league captain Paul Gallen is out of hospital as he battles to be fit for his boxing bout with former Cronulla teammate Anthony Watts on Wednesday. Gallen is scheduled to fight on the undercard of the Daniel Geale v Jarrod Fletcher fight at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion. However his preparation was thrown into disarray when he reportedly contracted golden staph in his groin and underwent surgery in a Sydney private hospital on Friday in a bid to kill the infection.

Paul Gallen says former rugby league star turned boxer John Hopoate has advised him to ignore the knockers as he prepares for his first professional fight this week. The NSW and Cronulla Sharks NRL captain fights Queensland-based New Zealander Herman Ene Purcell (1-1, 1 KO) at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion on Wednesday on the undercard to the Daniel Geale-Garth Wood middleweight bout. Gallen is in the midst of a hectic schedule, having just spent a week in New Zealand for the NRL Nines tournament in Auckland.
