Pascal-Hopkins Will Head Back To Canada, Bell Centre

By Chris LaBate

Light heavyweight contender Bernard Hopkins has confirmed that his rematch with IBO/WBC champion Jean Pascal will take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada on May 21. Although Hopkins' promoter, Golden Boy Promotions, outbid Pascal's promoter, GYM, in the mandatory purse bid, the fight made the most financial sense to take place on Canadian soil.

Their first bout took place on December 18 at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec. Pascal (26-1-1, 16 KOs) scored two early knockdowns but Hopkins (51-5-2, 32 KOs) came back and dominated most of the fight. The bout ended in a controversial twelve round majoirty draw. The WBC would order an immediate rematch.

The first bout was televised by Showtime, but the rematch was picked up by HBO. The HBO broadcast will feature a showdown between light heavyweight ex-champions, Chad Dawson (29-1, 17 KOs) and hometown hero Adrian Diaconu (27-2, 15 KOs).

Hopkins better KO him this time or he'll get robbed again

If the same Hopkins shows up, then he wins a clear UD.

i feel the fight should take place in america (knowing canada judges and hometown advantage). The fight should be at a neutral venue, so its all on fair terms. This is bernards second and maybe only chance to make history…

Two great Fights! Can't wait for these fights. I hope Hopkins has enough to win this fight...

I never doubted this. At the end of the day hopkins goes where the money is. I just hope he has enough left in the reserves to pull off another great performance!
