Kevin Barry, trainer for WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker (24-0, 18 KOs), believes IBF, IBO, WBA champion Anthony Joshua (20-0, 20 KOs) is right there for the taking.

He wants his boxer to face Joshua sooner than later - because he fears that someone else will come along and knock off the very popular British fighter.

The unified champion was in action two weeks ago, when he picked up a tenth round stoppage win over late replacement Carlos Takam in Cardiff, Wales.

Barry believes the fight exposed Joshua's weaknesses and proved that he's a very beatable opponent.

"That Joshua fight puts everything into perspective now," Barry said. "Takam had done no sparring. He tested Joshua right to the end. We saw how gassed Joshua was.

"We all saw that Joshua could not hurt Takam. That showed me that he is very beatable. He can't knock you out with one punch. He is very robotic. I think the guy is there for the taking and I want us to get in front of him before someone else beats him."

There are now ongoing negotiations to make a Joshua vs. Parker unification in the first quarter of next year. The deal will depend on the financial terms.

Parker's promoter, David Higgins, claims that his boxer was offered an 80-20 split from Eddie Hearn, who promotes Joshua.

Higgins has zero interest in such a deal and wants something better for his boxer. There appears to be no issue with holding the fight on UK soil, but the financial split appears to be the biggest problem.

Parker was in action back in September, when he traveled to Manchester to make the second defense of the title he captured last December with a win over Andy Ruiz. In his most recent title defense, Parker won a twelve round decision over previously undefeated Hughie Fury, who is the cousin of former world champion Tyson Fury.
