Pacquiao-Mosley Fight Camp 360: Episode 3 Quotables

By Chris Robinson

On Saturday night the third episode of Showtime's Fight Camp 360 series on Pacquiao-Mosley was showcased on CBS. Manny Pacquiao defends his WBO welterweight title against Shane Mosley on May 7th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and their every moves have been charted leading up to the fight, giving viewers an intimate look at their lives.
From Camp Pacquiao we saw the final weeks of his training in the Philippines, as he took some time to pursue his love of basketball and also greeted promoter Bob Arum, who had flown overseas to check him out his progress. Those close to the Filipino star also spoke about his early days in near poverty and reflected on what he had to overcome to get to this point in his life.

We saw Mosley spend some precious moments with his girlfriend, Bella Gonzalez, with the fight about five weeks away, during one of her photo shoots. The series also reflected on the camaraderie between Shane and his trainer, Naazim Richardson, as well as his son Shane Jr.

For some key quotes from episode 3 please continue reading below...

"I started from nothing. I never dreamed I could be like this." - Manny Pacquiao reflecting on his success

"Being a congressman, boxer, is a big achievement in my life. My fans are expecting a big victory." - Pacquiao on his people

"I have a lot of confidence in my guy. The speed and power is like something I haven't seen in my life. It's like an explosion." - A very honest Freddie Roach, trainer to Pacquiao

"I am so eager to prove people wrong. Beating a guy like Manny Pacquiao, who really turned heads." - an eager Shane Mosley

"Shane Mosley, this guy has such a warm smile, such a great personality, it's hard to believe he can be such a monster in the ring." - Mosley's trainer Naazim Richardson

"Manny's mood this time around is a little bit different than the last two. He's a little more playful" - Pacquiao's advisor Michael Koncz comparing this camp to his previous two

"Boxing is a one and one sport. It's just me and him." - Shane Mosley

"He's such a warm-hearted person but when it does get closer to the fight he's more of a monster. He's intense with everybody around him." - Mosley's girlfriend Bella Gonzalez

"I will go to Baguio for a couple of days and check out everything. This now has become part of the tradition." - Top Rank promoter Bob Arum, in town to check out his star fighter

"Mosley's a tough guy. He's never been knocked out. He's got a great chin. To put the icing on the cake, Manny needs to win this fight by knockout to show everyone in the world that we're better than that other guy, Mayweather. Mayweather couldn't knock Shane out and if we do, it just show that we have much, much more than he does." - Freddie Roach hoping for a stoppage

"He knows what's at stake. He's a grown man. I'm not going to baby-sit Manny Pacquiao, that's for sure." - Freddie Roach on Pacquiao's love of basketball, which he entertains during down time in camp

"This is his legacy. This is his life. I'm very proud of him." - Shane Mosley Jr. on his father

"Everybody's looking for this thing, at some point, to come crashing down. And I can't let that happen." - Strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza doing everything to make sure Pacquiao is at his best

"I'm happy to train hard and to do my best in the ring." - Manny Pacquiao

"I stared from nothing and now I have something. And I am very, very proud of that." - A sentimental Pacquiao

"You had to suffer to train in the gym, but that's exactly the kind of condition he liked because he thought that hardened him and set him back for the struggles inside the ring." - Well-respected journalist Ronnie Nathanielsz on Pacquiao's early days

"Boxing's not a game. It's a structure and it's a strategy. And once you put together a strategy, anything can be dealt with. Our goal is to disrupt his game plan. This is where the chess game starts." - Richardson reflecting

"I could not imagined that we could get this big. All that we worked so hard for, became a success." - Buboy Fernandez, who has known Pacquiao since he was a youth

"Why build this gym? Everyone told me, don't do it. It's a pain in the ass. But I said, you never know when the next Mike Tyson might walk through your door. Manny doesn't look like Mike but he walked through my doors" - Freddie Roach on the Wild Card and coming across Pacquiao
