Eight division champion Manny Pacquiao is backing his Wild Card stablemate, Miguel Cotto, to win a twelve round decision over Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez on November 21 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao and Cotto are both trained by Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, California.
Cotto fought Pacquiao at a catch-weight of 145-pounds in 2009. Pacquiao stopped Cotto in the twelfth round. It was the final time Pacquiao stopped any opponent.
Cotto went through a series of trainers over the years. After suffering back to back defeats to Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Austin Trout, he parted from Cuban coach Pedro Diaz and hired Roach.
Since the pairing with Roach, Cotto has won three fights in a row including a knockout victory last June to capture the WBC middleweight championship and becoming the first Puerto Rican boxer to win four world titles in four weight divisions.
Pacquiao, after confirming that make one more fight before hanging up his gloves after a 20 year career in professional boxing, said that what has been achieved with Cotto Roach is to highlight and why you think you have more elements to retain championship Middleweight World Boxing Council.
"I think that Miguel Cotto is going to win the fight. Canelo is a good fighter, but I see Cotto winning the fight by decision," Pacquiao said to ESPN Deportes. "Miguel Cotto has good boxing, has experience, is having a good moment [in his career], but above everything he has Freddie Roach who inspires anyone."
