Pablo Cesar Cano Will Defend WBA Title at 140 Next

By Jose Luis Camarillo, notifight.com

According to Pablo Cano, the father and trainer of Pablo Cesar Cano (25-2-1, 19KOs), his son will return to the junior welterweight division and defend his WBA interim title. Last month Cano moved up to the welterweight division and lost a very close split decision to WBA champion Paulie Malignaggi.

The impressive performance at 147 has opened the door for more opportunities at the weight, but Cano Sr. says his son doesn't belong at welter.

Leading up to the fight with Malignaggi there were issues with weight, but Cano Sr. blames a new training program that caused his son to retain too much water during fight week.

Cano should be ashamed of the shape he came into for that title fight with Malignaggi. It was a disgrace.
Goddamn alphabet orgs.
One of the few divisions in boxing where the WBA is using the "Super" and "World" titles correctly. Wlad/Ward/Garcia deserve to be the "Super World" champions. God, how stupid "Super World" sounds lmao
Guzman/Allakhverdiev are fighting for the WBA "World" title, which I believe is a more important title. The interim title gives Cano the right to challenge the winner of Guzman/Allakhervdiev.
Goddamn alphabet orgs.
