Heavyweight talent Otto Wallin (11-0, 9 KOs) is eager to continue his impressive run of form when he returns to the ring on June 20. The Sundsvall southpaw takes on the experienced Ukrainian Oleksiy Mazikin (14-11-2, 4 KOs) in an eight round contest at the Ballerup Super Arena in Copenhagen
‘’I want to win and I want to look good doing it,’’ said Wallin, who will face stiff competition from the former World Amateur Championship silver medallist. ‘’Mazikin is an experienced opponent with a good amateur background. He’s shared the ring with some tough guys, but I’ll be ready for whatever he has to offer.
‘’I’ve had a great year so far with two good wins from two good stoppages. I want to put in another strong performance and claim my third victory before the summer break. I won’t go looking for the knockout but if the opportunity comes to stop him, I will take it!’’
From his Copenhagen training base, Wallin has been keeping a close eye on the heavyweight division as he and coach Joey Gamache plot their route to the top. Despite a long-standing dream to become the first Swedish heavyweight champion since Ingemar Johansson, the 24 year-old refuses to rush.
‘’The heavyweight division is the strongest it has been for a long time,’’ said Wallin. ‘’We have a new champion and there are a lot of exciting match ups out there. But for now, we’re taking our time and doing it the right way. It’s all about staying in the gym, working hard and trying to become a more complete fighter. I want to make sure that when the times comes for the big fights I will be ready!’’
Wallin joins a star-studded Scandinavian line up for the Nordic Fight Night on June 20 at the Ballerup Super Arena in Copenhagen. Swedish light welterweight Anthony Yigit (13-0-1, 5 KOs) battles Tony Owen (16-3, 3 KOs), Danish super middleweight Patrick Nielsen (25-1, 12 KOs) defends his WBA International title against Charles Adamu (23-6, 17 KOs), rising featherweight talent Dennis Ceylan (14-0-1, 7 KOs) faces Sergio Prado (11-4-1, 4 KOs) and Tim-Robin Lihaug (12-1, 7 KOs) takes on Arne Ernstsen (7-0, 3 KOs) in an all-Norwegian contest. All the action will be shown live on TV10 in Sweden. Tickets are available via billetlugen.dk.
