Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya has been hit with 2 misdemeanor DUI charges stemming from his January arrest in Pasadena ... TMZ Sports has learned.
We broke the story ... the 44-year-old former six division world champion was pulled over for speeding in a Land Rover around 2 AM but during the stop, officers suspected Oscar was drunk.
We're told Oscar bombed a series of field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI. Earlier in the evening, Oscar was seen at multiple bars in the area, including Barney's Beanery in Old Town Pasadena where he posed for a pic with a fan.
Now, prosecutors are moving forward with charges -- DUI and driving with a .08 or above. If convicted, he faces up to 6 months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
He'll probably cut a deal to keep him out of jail -- and instead, he'll agree to alcohol education classes, AA meetings and fines and fees.
Oscar has struggled with substance abuse for years -- and has been to rehab for alcohol and drug issues in the past.
De La Hoya first admitted in 2011 that he was an alcoholic and drug user. In September of 2013 he admitted himself to a treatment facility.
The move came on the eve of the biggest fight of the year for his promotion company, Golden Boy Promotions, between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Canelo Alvarez.
De La Hoya, a former 10-time world champion and 1992 Olympic gold medalist, retired shortly after Manny Pacquiao defeated him in 2008.
