The super-fight at Jerry World is one step closer to fruition ... 'cause Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya met with Jerry Jones Thursday to discuss Canelo Alvarez vs. GGG at AT&T Stadium.
As we previously reported, Gennady Golovkin's camp had been in touch with Jones -- who expressed great interest in hosting the fight at his mega-stadium in Dallas in September.
Well, Oscar reps Canelo -- and made the trip to Big D to push along the conversation ... and by the looks of things, it's going well.
There are two other venues in the running -- the MGM Grand in Vegas and NYC's Madison Square Garden ... but we're told both sides REALLY want to make this thing happen in Dallas.
Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs) returns on April 23rd to defend the IBO/WBA/IBF middleweight titles against mandatory challenger Dominic Wade at the Forum in Los Angeles, California. Canelo (46-1-1, 32KOs) is back on May 7th, defending his WBC middleweight crown against British star Amir Khan at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Should Canelo and GGG win, the World Boxing Council has ordered the two boxers to face each other in the fall. The month of Septemeber, during Mexican Independence Day Weekend, is the target for both sides and HBO Pay-Per-View.
