Filipino flyweight Warlito Parrenas who fights out of Japan under the name Wars Katsumata has been knocked out with one punch in the opening round in a scheduled ten round bout at the Korakeun Hall in Tokyo..

Hall of Fame boxing writer and matchmaker Joe Koizumi reported that Oscar Blanquet who is ranked No. 11 by the WBC, No. 13 by the WBA and No. 14 by the IBF stunned the crowd when he dropped Parrenas  who is ranked No. 15 for the full count with a single left hook.  The 28 year old Parrenas who had been scouted by the Katsumata Gym in Tokyo and was a  multi-titled amateur champion in the Philippines had won his last five  fights all by k knockout following a 6th round TKO lost to Filipino world title challenger Jonathan Taconing in a battle for the WBC International light flyweight title on July 31, 2010.

Parrenas was coming off a 6th round knockout of Tomoya  Kaneshiro last March 25.

The 27 year old Blanquet lost by a 7th round TKO to Ricardo Nunez  in a clash for the WBA Fedelatin title on September 24, 2011 but came back to win two fights by knockout before taking on Parrenas.

Blanquet was coming off a 9th round knockout of Martin Tecuapetla last March 30.

With the win over Parrenas, the Mexican improved to 32-4-1 with 23 knockouts while Parrenas dropped to 17-6 with 15 knockouts.

What about the people who paid to see a fight? Poor Warlito? He should have ducked.
