Promoter Lou DiBella expects a rematch to happen between Andre Berto (27-1, 21KOs)and WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz (29-2-2, 22KOs). Last weekend Ortiz captured the title from Berto with a "Fight of The Year" performance. After twelve rounds and multiple knockdowns, Ortiz walked away with a unanimous decision victory. Berto suffered his first career defeat. DiBella doesn't really see a rematch happening right away. It's more likely that both fighters will have at least one interim-bout before a possible rematch takes place.
"I think these guys could never make a bad fight. I think if Victor Ortiz and Andre Berto fight....I don't care how many times, it's always going to be a great fight. Victor earned his title and Berto proved what kind of lion he is, what kind of heart he has. Berto will fight Ortiz again. I don't know if it's going to be the next fight. They will fight again, but I wouldn't be surprised if they fight other people first. We're going to wait and see," DiBella told BoxingScene.com's Bill Emes.
