Orlando Cruz Training Hard For Marvin Sonsona Clash

By Rey Colon

Former Olympian Orlando 'The Phenomenon' Cruz (18-2-1, 9 KO's) continues to prepare thoroughly for his commitment on July 6 in Las Vegas, Nevada, against the former 115-pound king of the WBO, Marvin Sonsona ( 16-1-1 and 13 KO's), indicating that a victory over the Filipino boxer would place him on the verge of a title shot at featherweight.

The 10-round fight will televised by ESPN.

"I'm preparing thoroughly because it is a very important fight for my career. Sonsona is a great fighter and you have to fight in very intelligent manner, with great defense and above all you have to show respect in the ring. It's a tough fight for both, youth against experience and I have a hunger to be champion. And I'm training like I've never before," said Cruz, ranked at fifth under the WBO.
