According to the Atlanta Journal, former unified cruiserweight champion O'Neil Bell, 41-years-old, was shot and killed by a pair of robbers. Police found his body in the middle of Harbin Roads, with stab wounds and gunshot wounds.

Bell was one of two people who were shot while getting off a bus Wednesday morning in the 1800 block of Harbin Road. The other victim was not with Bell, but was getting off the same bus. Both were robbed. The second victim was shot in the hip and is being treated at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Bell became an undisputed cruiserweight champion when he unified the WBC/IBF/WBA titles with a memorable war with Jean Marc Mormeck in 2006. Bell lost their rematch, another war, in 2007. Bell then lost fights to Tomasz Adamek and Richard Hall. He finally retired after a stay busy win in December 2011.

He walked away with a record of 27-4-1 and 25 knockouts. Bell initially had the nickname of "Give 'Em Hell" but later changed it to "Supernova."
