According to multiple sources in the UK, promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is trying to make fight between former champions Ricky Burns (37-4-1, 11KOs) and Omar Figueroa (24-0-1, 18KOs).

Figueroa was last seen in the ring in August, when he retained his WBC title by knocking out Daniel Estrada in what was his final appearance as a lightweight.

Burns, who is promoted by Hearn, snapped a two-fight losing streak last October with an eight round decision over Alexandre Lepelley.

The for Figueroa, who is managed by Al Haymon, would likely take place at the junior welterweight limit or a weight between 135 and 140.

“Nothing has been finalized although I would hope to be in a position to make a major announcement soon,” Hearn told the Daily Record.

According to reports, the fight would take place on April 18th as part of the undercard to Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Andrzej Fonfara.
