Omar Chavez Getting Help From Roach, Ariza For Paez

By Miguel Rivera

A very interesting fight taks place on December 17th in Chiapas, Mexico, which matches the sons of two Mexico boxing legends. Omar Chavez, the son of Julio Cesar Chavez, faces Jorge Paez Jr. in a welterweight contest. The event called "Legacy of Legends" will be staged by Zanfer and broadcast on Azteca 7.

To show the great importance of this commitment, Omar went to train at the famous Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, to work with veteran hall of fame coach Freddie Roach. The very popular trainer is possibly going to work Omar's corner on the night of the fight. Omar also worked with Alexa Ariza, the strength and conditioning coach of Manny Pacquiao, Amir Khan and Omar's older brother Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Omar and Jorge co-headlined together on 3rd of September in Mexicali, where both boxers won to set their upcoming meeting. Omar stopped Alberto "La Mosca" Martinez in one, while Rodrigo Juarez was stopped by Jorge in three.

Omar, born in Culiacan, turns 22 years old on January 4, and has a record of 27-0, 20 KOs and one draw. Paez, a native of Mexicali, turned 24 last week, and has a record of 29-4, 18 knockouts.

Omar Chávez is improving and has brutal power, Paez is going to sleep.

Paez Jr. has good speed and solid power. At one point (very early in his career) I thought he was a promising prospect; however, he's very lazy and will most likely amount to nothing now. I still think he's way…
