As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, Conor McGregor has a bit of time to consider his options after earning an estimated $100 million from his ‘fight of the century’ with Floyd Mayweather last weekend at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

He has at least two months before he is allowed anywhere near a combat sport.

After being clubbed before being finally stopped against Mayweather in the 10th round, McGregor was given a two month suspension on medical grounds by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

He cannot punch or roundhouse anyone until after the end of the suspension on October 26. And he is banned from all physical contact until October 11.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission, who granted a licence for his Las Vegas fight with Mayweather, will give the Irishman a medical when the ban ends to ensure he is fit to resume MMA or boxing.

Bob Bennett, the executive director for the Nevada State Athletic Commission, has also praised referee Robert Byrd for opting to stop the fight,

“Robert did an excellent job,” said Bennett. “He was just hit popping him, lefts and rights, it was definitely time to stop that fight and I don’t think we could have asked anymore from Robert.”

The NSAC received a lot of heat for sanctioning this contest, as McGregor had zero professional boxing experience. There was even more heat, when the sanctioning body approved both fighters to use 8-ounce gloves in a junior middleweight fight. According to NSAC's own rules, any contest above the welterweight limit of 147 must require the use of 10-ounce gloves - for safety reasons. Both fighters filed a request to use 8-ounce gloves, which the NSAC approved as a "one time" exception.
