| Nonito Donaire, Top Rank Deal is Close, Says Garcia

By Jhonny Gonzalez According to trainer Robert Garcia, a new agreement is close between Top Rank and WBC/WBO bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire. Garcia tells Sal Rodriguez that Donaire might return in September or October to avoid being stripped of his two titles, if the new deal with Top Rank goes through. Donaire has been inactive since February's two round knockout of Fernando Montiel. Donaire was caught in the middle of a promotional tussle between Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions, but a legal decision solidified Top Rank's position as holding a valid contract over Donaire.
