Nonito Donaire Could Face Evgeny Gradovich in Next Fight

By Edward Chaykovsky

Nonito Donaire could face International Boxing Federation featherweight champion Evgeny Gradovich in early 2014, according to Donaire’s manager Cameron Dunkin. Donaire (31-2, 20KOs) will first take on Vic Darchinyan in a rematch on November 9th in Texas. Both fighters are trained by Robert Garcia, which is not something that would prevent the fight from happening. If the fight takes, Dunkin says Garcia will side with Donaire and already informed Gradovich (17-0, 8KOs) of that.

“We’ve already been discussing the Gradovich fight for Nonito. Hopefully, we can make the deal to fight Gradovich for the IBF title early next year,” said Dunkin to reporter Dennis Principe. “Gradovich understands that [Robert will train Donaire if they fight]. Robert has already spoken to him about it. Robert is with Nonito 100%."
