Nicky Cook Was Likely in His Last Career Boxing Match

By Joe Delaney, courtesy of The Daily Star

NICKY COOK looks certain to quit boxing after suffering a horrendous back injury against Ricky Burns.

He left the ring on a stretcher after his bid to regain the WBO super-featherweight title lasted just 93 seconds.

Dagenham’s Cook, 31, suffered a prolapsed disc when he was floored by a right hand that landed on his back. He could barely walk, forcing his dad and trainer Paul to throw in the towel when he went down for the third time.

Promoter Frank Warren said: “What happened was a completely freak and unusual accident and if he boxed there could be the risk of it happening again.”

Ricky Burns is a cherry picking loser, he should get no support in his fights. He should rematch Martinez but he won't because he barely scraped a decision over Martinez. He knows Martinez probably would KO him in a rematch.…
