On Monday, December 17, Sampson Boxing and Manguita Promotions will return to the Dominican Fiesta Hotel in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, with another star-studded night of professional boxing, including an all-Dominican main event and two female world title fights.

In the night's 10-round main event, hometown hero Victor "Mermelada" Cayo (30-3, 22 KOs) of Santo Domingo will face unbeaten countryman Vladimir Baez (17-0 with 15 KOs) of La Vega, Dominican Republic.

Cayo will be gunning for his second consecutive victory over and undefeated opponent, as he defeated unbeaten Julio DeJesus (15-0, 14 KOs) on August 11. Baez has won four straight by knockout since winning the Dominican Light Welterweight Championship in 2010.

In the 10-round co-feature will be Daihana Santana (30-6, 14 KOs) will be defending her IBF Female Featherweight World Title against Mandatory Challenger Helen Joseph (11-1, 6 KOs) of Nigeria, by way of Ghana.

Also appearing that night will be IBF Female Junior Featherweight World Champion Katy Pamela "La Super Baby" Wilson (16-1, 9 KOs) making the second defense of her title against Maribel Santana (12-10, 5 KOs).

On the undercard, Sampson Boxing will showcase future stars such as power punching Dominican super bantamweight Jonathan Guzman (10-0, 10 KOs), and heavy-handed super featherweight Braulio Rodriguez (10-0, 10 KOs), undefeated super middleweight Felix Valera (3-0, 3 KOs), and Santo Domingo's own future light welterweight star Juan Carlos Abreu (13-0, 12 KOs) in separate fights

And in a very special added attraction, the "Hawk Flock" undefeated brothers John Jackson (13-1, 12 KOs) and Julius Jackson (13-0, 9 KOs) and undefeated light middleweight Samuel Rogers (11-0, 6 KOs) from the US Virgin Islands will each appear in separate bouts. John and Julius are the sons and Samuel is the nephew of all-time-great slugger Julian "The Hawk" Jackson.

"I have made it one of my missions to bring world-class boxing to the Dominican and stars like Javier Fortuna and Victor Cayo, as well as upcoming champions such as Jonathan Guzman, Braulio Rodriguez and Juan Carlos Abreu are a big part of those plans. I am very excited about this show and look forward to another successful co-promotional venture with Manguita Promotions," said Sampson Boxing President Sampson Lewkowicz.

British Welterweight Champion Frankie Gavin opens his 2013 campaign when he makes the first defence of his title against Jason Welborn at Walsall Town Hall on Friday 18th January, live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/Virgin Ch. 546).

Gavin headlines promoter Frank Warren's first show of the New Year - in association with Midlands promoter Errol Johnson - and will look to make three quick defences of the title to make the belt his own property.

One of Britain's leading talents, Gavin - still Britain’s only ever world amateur champion - took the title from Junior Witter earlier this month, outclassing the Bradford veteran to win on all three judges' scorecards.

Next year will be a big one for the 27-year-old with the Commonwealth and European belts in his sights, but first he has to deal with Tivdale based Welborn, the current Midlands Area champion, who’s only lost one of his eleven fights and is on a three-fight stoppage run.

Gavin said, "It’s great to be back in action so soon after beating Witter and especially in January which means I can get more fights throughout the year.  Although fighting in January means that I’ll have to watch what I eat over Christmas!”

“I can’t wait to get in the ring again, I’ve stayed in shape after the Witter fight and I’d be ready to fight this Saturday if I had to.  Welborn is a good tough fighter, but there’s no way I’m letting this belt go so he’s got to bring something special to the ring if he’s going to beat me,”

“My aim for next year is to keep fighting regularly and win the Lonsdale belt outright, that would be my dream, and then I want the Commonwealth and European titles. Next year is the year I clean up domestically before looking at world titles,”

"I know what I can achieve in this sport and beating Witter to become British champion is only the start, I’m going all the way to the world title.”

Chief support on the card features Walsall favourite Martin Gethin challenging Hove’s Ben Murphy for the Vacant British and Commonwealth Lightweight titles, with a full undercard to be announced shortly.

Tickets priced at £30 and £60 are available from Walsall Town Hall Box Office on 0845 111 2900.

The show will be live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/Virgin Ch. 546).  Join at
