Nathan Cleverly Reportedly Jumping Ship To Eddie Hearn

According to the South Wales Argus, former WBO light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly is set to be announced as the latest boxer to join the ranks of promoter Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Sport. Cleverly will reportedly be in attendance at a press conference on Thursday in Cardiff Bay as Hearn announces details of a show at the Motorpoint Arena on May 17.

Cleverly has spent his career with Frank Warren, who says the boxer is still under contract with his company. Like Hearn's signing of Ricky Burns, the addition of Cleverly will likely produce a lengthy legal battle. Cleverly has been inactive since September 2013 when he was knocked out in four rounds by Sergey Kovalev.

A debut at cruiserweight was postponed several times by Cleverly.
