By Jhonny Gonzalez

At the Polideportivo Municipal in Buenos Aires, Argentina, WBO super flyweight champion Omar Narvaez (33-0-2, 19 KOs) dominated Victor Zaleta (17-2, 9 KOs) of Mexico for a twelve round unanimous decision. Zaleta was overmatched and got outboxed for most of the contest. He lost a point in the sixth for a low blow. In the later rounds it was target practice for Narvaez but Zaleta would not go away. The scores were 119-108, 120-107, and 120-107.

In the co-feature, minimumweight champion Sammy Gutierrez (27-5-2, 18 KOs) of Mexico retained the WBA interim-title with a sixth round stoppage of Renan Trongco (8-3, 5 KOs) of the Philippines. Gutierrez got dropped in the first and took a some punishment before making it back to his corner. By the sixth, Gutierrez had taken the fight back over and began to punish Trongco with hard combinations. The referee stopped the beating after Trongco was being punished against the ropes.
